Another appeal, slightly better cause!

In June Tamar is running a project where the company is going to spend a week building a classroom and carrying out other repairs to a primary school in Guguletu which is one of the large townships here in Cape Town. I went to look round the school a couple of months ago when we were selecting the projects, and it's a very different way of life to the UK, and one that is hard to imagine. However the kids and staff are extremely friendly, up-beat and positive, and the Headmaster has been working closely with Tamar to make the project a success.

Tamar is paying to fly the company out to Cape Town for a week, and is paying for food and accomodation, but we are trying to raise money to carry out the building work and refurbishments and to buy new equipment. We are also collecting old childrens books and posters for classrooms. We will be carrying out as much of the building work ourselves as possible.

The project is going to be on ITN News in June and there is a website at: www.tamargoestotown.com. You can check out some of the photos and read more about the project on the site. If you would like to donate some money, send some old childrens books or just leave a comment on the site then any input is much appreciated!

I'll let you all know how it goes - I'm spending next weekend raising money by selling raffle tickets in a shopping centre here - certainly more to come on that!
