What an Idiot

I've done that classic Bristich holiday maker one today. First day back at work and I've rocked up in shorts to find everyone in jeans and jumpers. The BBC said it would be hot today! I might as well have arrived shirt off, in a pair of union jack shorts with my hankercheif tied in knots on my head.

I am such a loser.

The English are good at queing

only because they have to do to so much.

London Calling

So here I find myself. Back in the Smoke.

Sunday was quite a productive day considering I'd had only what seemed like only 2 hours sleep on saturday night.

Did my shopping for the next 3 months. Enough Pot noodle, Earl Grey and Ovaltine to support an attempt on Everest.

Got some cheap games for the PSP, hugely cheper than they are in SA.

I then ha d areally great little sake on the Ravenscout Park mini ramp. So good the be ona board on a smooth surface, like they day you get new wheels and bearings, but without the new wheels and bearings.

Extreme Sports Map

I've got a new project under way at the moment. It's called Extreme Sports Map and is based on the Google Maps API, or for those of you who arn't geeks, the Google maps thing with satelite images in it.

The idea is to plot the locations of skateparks, streets spots, surf breaks and in fact any place where you can go about sliding on a board, riding bike or jumping off things. In true 2.0 fashion (again, apologies to the non geeks) visitors to the site can add their own spots to the project and comment on spots already there.

It's been a pretty quick site to get up and running, and is hopefully going to be fully live in the next few weeks.

If you go down to the woods today

You'll see some absolutly huge Eucaliptus. And lots of other big trees. Ceacealia Plantation turned out to a be cool place for a walk.

And thanks to Mum and Dad

Thanks again goes out to my Mum and Dad for coming out. I know how spending 10 days in Africa having long lunches, going on scenic drives and having close encounters with cheetahs can be such a drag.

Table Mountain

This icon is always a designer favourite, it's the pretty universal sign for an escalator.

The picture below is a photo of Platteklip Gorge on Table Mountain looking down from near the top. If you look really carefully you won't see one of those nice escalator signs, and that's because there isn't one. I, for my sins decided to walk up there on the Bank Holday to see what it's like. Hell is probably a good way of describing it, I think it's about a 3k walk, but covers about 700m vertically. The base is at 363 m and the top at 1,086 m. Safe to say I was a bit of a mess once I got to the top, bit like Stalone at the end of Rocky where he can't see or walk and is dripping with sweat. I was trying to prove a point by doing it in under an hour, but only manged 1 hour 7 minutes.
